Strategy implementation covers the processes necessary to align the work force and stakeholders behind the organization’s chosen strategy, as well as the leadership and management skills required to ensure the strategic plan is successfully executed. Work turns to integrating the strategic plan with the ongoing processes of the organization. The focus becomes how to implement the organization’s strategic plan as a plan of action. To effectively and efficiently implement an organization-wide strategy requires many factors to come into alignment before successful implementation can occur.
- An accountability model must be clearly defined and embraced for each element of the strategy.
- The organization-wide strategy must be effectively cascaded down into the business units, support functions, teams and individuals down through the organization.

Ismael Roig is Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Chief Sustainability Officer for Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), and a member of the company’s Executive Council. As such, he controls and advances the implementation of ADM’s corporate strategy, leads the process of corporate strategic and resource allocation planning, manages ADM’s corporate mergers & acquisitions and business development activities, and oversees the company’s efforts to improve the efficiency and environmental footprint of its operations. Roig joined ADM in 2004 and previously served as president for Asia-Pacific. Before that, he was the company’s vice president for Planning and Business Development. Prior to joining ADM, Roig spent 11 years with General Motors Corporation in various finance and control positions in Brazil, Singapore and Belgium. Roig holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Cranfield Institute of Technology, also in the United Kingdom. He holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst® credential.
Rafael Matuk is Head of Front End Applications Delivery and Development Group, a shared services entity within Corporate IT at Underwriters Laboratories. He is focused on program management, business analysis. User experience, agile software development and service management with a team of 30 associates, 60 contractors. Influenced business process transformations to achieve major productivity improvements, reduce service turnaround time, improve real time customer interactions and improve data accuracy. Currently directing development of a contemporary corporate customer portal, a digital channel for over 70,000 corporate and customer engagements. Led delivery of internal service fulfillment solutions for all UL three business units. Managed consolidation of legacy applications to reduce maintenance costs, retiring 10 and reducing related application support costs 20%.
Jim Bente is Vice President of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness for College of DuPage, Jim is the College’s Chief Planning Officer. In this capacity, Jim is responsible for the College’s multi-year Strategic Long Range Plan, Annual Plan, Fact Book and Institutional Outcomes Report. For the past 20 years Jim has held an appointment as an adjunct assistant professor of health systems at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, teaching in the Master of Public Management and the Master of Medical Management programs. Jim has presented at numerous local, state and national conferences, is a published author and has served on the Panel of Judges for Illinois Performance Excellence, the state’s Baldrige-based quality program. Jim is also a Senior Member of ASQ (American Society for Quality) and servers as a Board Member for the Association for Strategic Planning – Chicago Chapter. Jim received a diploma in professional nursing from Saint Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, holds an undergraduate degree in Health Administration from Wheeling Jesuit University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University.
Kevin Neebes is the For Profit Optimizing Manager at Ambassador Enterprises. Kevin joined Ambassador Enterprises in August of 2011 and currently works on the Solutions team. Kevin leads our strategic execution planning efforts, helping affiliate organizations create roadmaps for getting from “here” to “there.” Kevin’s prior work experience includes teaching, coaching, and pastoring in the Cleveland, OH area. He holds a Master of Biblical Studies degree from Ashland Theological Seminary and a Master of Education, Administration degree from John Carroll University. Kevin joined Ambassador after completing his MBA from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University. Kevin serves on the board of Northeast Christian Church in Fort Wayne, and the board of New Hope Uganda Ministries, an organization that strives to bring the fatherhood of God to the fatherless. Kevin resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana with his wife, Ellen, and their three kids, Lindley, Mallory and James.
