ASP Nonprofit Center for Excellence First Mondays Series Presents:
Collaborative Strategic Planning as a Catapult to Regional Success
Date & Time:  April 1, 2019, 4:00 - 5:00 PM (EDT)
Presented by: Nikki Syverson, Director, Capital Crossroads

How do you bring leaders from nonprofit, government, business, health care, the arts, and environmental organizations from 20 different municipalities together to create a shared vision for a city and a region? Better question: How do you engage these diverse entities in planning and successfully implementing a series of cross-cutting initiatives over the long term? In April Nikki Syverson, director of Capital Crossroads based in Des Moines, Iowa, will share insights about how her organization has been helping the Central Iowa region thinking bigger and work together since 2012. This session will offer a sneak peek at what Nikki will be presenting at the ASP annual conference in May; about how to gain buy-in, engage multiple stakeholders and collaboratively enact change. Questions to be addressed include:

  • How to define goals with multiple stakeholders and varied interests?
  • How to keep partners both accountable and engaged?

Nikki Syverson has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising and strategic planning and has served in leadership roles at the Des Moines Community Playhouse, Wine Festival Foundation of Des Moines and the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. She has also served on numerous boards and committees throughout the region. In both her professional and volunteer roles she has a proven track record of improving organizations’ financial positions, improving community relations and connecting new partners for larger gains.

As a benefit of membership, ASP members can attend First Mondays for free. Registration is required. Non-members are welcome to join by paying a $10 registration fee. For information about becoming a member please visit the Association for Strategic Planning website.  All registrants will receive an email with connection information on the day of the discussion.
