Storytelling in Strategy: Developing a clear picture for the Board

In this session, I will review the experience in building out a strategic plan with a client's management team and gaining board buy-in.  While building out elements of the strategic plan was straight forward, hitting the right notes for board approval required creating a story that would resonate with their prior impressions and misgivings. Changing the strategy into a story of the future re-framed the discussion and changed how we could approach and take best advantage of Board feedback (as well as gain their approval!).

Matt optimizes how organizations, leaders, and teams operate. He incorporates an understanding of elite team enablers to drive better organizational focus, alignment, and communication. In his work, Matt facilitates and leads efforts in team integration, strategic planning, talent management, communications, and organizational behaviors.

His work spans a broad array of industries including Healthcare, Technology, Real Estate, Consumer Products, and Finance. He has worked with multiple Fortune 500 executive teams, Private Equity firms, startups, and everything in between.

Matt’s roles have included Regional President at the consulting firm, The McChrystal Group and Head of Services at CrossLead, Inc. He also led multiple functions in the healthcare industry including Product Management, Marketing, Reimbursement,  Software Development, and Analytics at organizations. Matt currently is a partner with Advantary LLC where he leads their Executive Capital practice. Matt completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University and received his MBA from Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business.
