Strategy Execution – The Power of Organizational Alignment
ASP Webinar held on December 9, 2014
Presented by Mario A. Bognanno
It takes more than a good Strategy to be successful. Having a good strategy without the ability to execute the plan is destined for strategic underachievement and disappointment. Using the Balanced Scorecard Approach, previously reviewed in the Webinar Series, we will explore how having a Balanced Scorecard to translate your strategy may be necessary but not sufficient to achieve strategic success.
There are a couple of assumptions that underpin today’s presentation. The first is that “Deciding a Strategic Direction is a top down responsibility”. This should not be interpreted to mean that Strategic Direction is decided in a vacuum. Participation by all stakeholders should be welcomed and open communication should be the rule. The second corollary assumption at work is that the Strategy is a Team Sport and that “Strategy Implementation is a bottom up activity”. Once Strategy is set, organizational stakeholders should view Strategy as Everyone’s Job. The mobilization efforts should ensure understanding, consensus and commitment by all employees to the organization’s strategic goals.
In the Webinar we will explore ways to gain Organizational Alignment in support of strategy execution. We will explore the alignment from the Corporate Level to the Business and Support Units and then from the Business and Support Units to the individuals in the organization.
We will leave time and encourage questions at the end of the presentation.
